Okpik Arctic Village Day Stay Summer

• Your local guide will pick you up in Inuvik and take you to the Okpik Arctic Village about 16 km north of town. During your trip, you will learn more about Northern culture, life in the village as well as food production and processing. You will cruise through incredible creeks and channels and experience the unique ecosystem of the spectacular Mackenzie Delta. Visit our traditional Okpik Arctic Village, explore our ice house and learn how we utilize the year round permafrost for storing food and food security.
• Join us in our tipi and take part in traditional games while listening to stories from the land from your Indigenous host, learn about what it is like to live in the Arctic and what is needed to survive. This tour also offers the opportunity to catch a glimpse of a variety of resident wildlife and birds. This is a fantastic tour if you are interested in Indigenous culture and immersing yourself for a better understanding of our connection to the land. This tour has an upgrade option to Include a full traditional meal and fishnet experience where you can learn first hand how to smoke and process fish. We will bring you back to town after the tour.

As most our costs are incurred long before the actual trip, rental or tour takes place, we are bound to the following cancellation fees:

• 90 Days before tour start: Full refund
• 90 – 61 days before tour start: 75% refund
• 60 – 30 days before tour start: 50% refund
• 30 or fewer days before tour start: No refund possible

Exceptions to this cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including, terrorism, civil unrest or personal emergencies. If unforeseen circumstances require a change in itinerary, we will make every effort to work out an alternative solution. If for any reason we cannot start the tour, due to circumstances, including but not limited, to severe weather, mechanical breakdown or road closures, you will receive a full refund.
