Our exclusive boat and air tour takes you by boat along the East channel to the mouth of the Mackenzie River and the Arctic Ocean to the Inuvialuit community of Tuktoyaktuk. During your adventure we will make stops along the way for the opportunity to explore our beautiful land with your local guide. Stop at a traditional Inuvialuit whaling camp along the Arctic Ocean and learn about the ancient ways of harvesting whale and fish on the Arctic Ocean. Learn about the way of life and how the people of today live their everyday lives along the Arctic coastline. Here you may have the opportunity to try local delicacies such as dried fish, bannock and other cultural food depending on the availablity.

While visiting the community of Tuktoyaktuk, a local guide will take you to points of interest on a 2 hour historical tour of the area where you get to learn all about the history of Tuktoyaktuk, see a traditional sod house, touch the Arctic ocean and even climb a Pingo! The flight between Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk is a scenic flight over the tree line scanning the expansive vista of the spectacular Mackenzie Delta.

  • What to expect during this trip:

    • Meet at our office 30 minutes before the start of your tour.
    • The 7:00 am tour participants will cruise by boat to Tuktoyaktuk (aproximately 5 hours) and the 1:30pm tour participants will fly up to Tuktoyaktuk (1 hour scenic flight)
    • You will have a 2 hour guided tour of Tuktoyaktuk.
    • The 8:00am tour participants will fly back to Inuvik (1 hour scenic flight) the 1:30pm tour participants will cruise by boat back to Inuvik.
    • The morning tour will arrive in Inuvik around 5:00pm while the afternoon tour will arrive back in Inuvik around midnight.

    Alternative if unable to fly due to availability or weather will result in a drive option. 

    Itinerary is subject to substitutions and changes at the discretion of our guides due to circumstances beyond our control, such as weather.

  • We offer this tour on the following days at 8:00am and 1:30pm

  • We always suggest bringing warm clothing. In the Arctic the weather can change quickly, which is why we suggest bringing lots of layers. You can always take layers off! If you feel like taking a plunge into the Arctic ocean than make sure to bring a bathing suit and towel! We suggest you bring enough food and drinks for yourself. We do provide one complimentary light meal. Lastly, make sure to bring a camera!

  • We require a minimum of 8 people to run this tour.

    If we do not meet our minimums or if the weather prevents us from boating up to Tuktoyaktuk, we will run an alternative tour of the Mackenzie River Boat Tour and Tuktoyaktuk Flight Tour.

  • As most our costs are incurred long before the actual trip, rental or tour takes place, we are bound to the following cancellation fees:

    • 90 Days before tour start: Full refund
    • 90 – 61 days before tour start: 75% refund
    • 60 – 30 days before tour start: 50% refund
    • 30 or fewer days before tour start: No refund possible

    Exceptions to this cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including, terrorism, civil unrest or personal emergencies. If unforeseen circumstances require a change in itinerary, we will make every effort to work out an alternative solution. If for any reason we cannot start the tour, due to circumstances, including but not limited, to severe weather, mechanical breakdown or road closures, you will receive a full refund.
