  • Day 1: Depart from Yellowknife and Arrive in Inuvik NT. Then you will check into your hotel and get ready for your Cultural Dinner, After this dinner you will be shuttled back to your hotel

    Day 2: Depart to Ivvavik National Park camp at Sheep Creek.

    Your itinerary will be discussed with you by your guides once you arrive at the base camp. It will depend on hiking ability of the group, weather and wildlife.

    Day 6: Leave Sheep Creek and arrive back in Inuvik. Once arrived you will be shuttled to you hotel room to check in, then brought to your Tuktoyaktuk Flight Tour.

    Day 7: Morning of exploring Inuvik before you departure Flight.

  • Parks Canada provides for your use:

    • Accommodation in Canvas Walled Tents
    • Bed
    • Treated drinking water
    • Bear deterrents
    • Field guides (flowers, plants, birds) • Hiking poles
    • Flush toilets with toilet paper supplied
    • Camping stove, fuel, pots, bowls, cups, plates, cutlery, and a coffee percolator
    • Outdoor cooking facilities including bear-safe storage, garbage and water disposal
    • Dish soap, wash basin, cloths, scrubbies
    • Earplugs (in case of snoring or enthusiastic willow ptarmigan)

    Catered Trips: Include breakfast, lunch, dinner, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. Catered visitors are welcome to bring personal food and beverages, as long as they fall within luggage weight limits and are kept in the bear-safe storage. Catered visitors can bring up to 35 lbs/16 kg of luggage per person.

    You should bring:

    • Duffle bag or back-pack to carry your gear
    • Small daypack for hikes
    • Sturdy hiking footwear with good ankle support
    • Light shoes or sandals for camp, creek crossings
    • Sleeping bag rated to -5 or -10 (a sheet liner adds warmth on cold nights and comfort on hot nights)
    • Water container (2-3 litres) to carry on hikes
    • Your favourite travel mug
    • Light, weather-proof (eg. GoreTex) jacket and pants for wind and precipitation
    • Warm middle layer (eg. fleece) for top and bottom
    • Merino wool or synthetic base layer for top and bottom (ie. long underwear)
    • Underwear (remember what Mom always said)
    • Comfortable hiking socks for each day
    • Warm hat and gloves/mitts
    • Sunhat, sunscreen & chapstick
    • Bug jacket and/or repellent
    • Small personal first aid kit
    • Personal toiletries and medications
    • Bathing suit
    • Sleep mask (if midnight sun will disturb your sleep)
    • Other equipment such as binoculars, camera, fishing rod, GPS, etc.

    Please note that excessive alcohol consumption is not appropriate in this remote setting, for reasons of safety

    Is this trip for me?

    The optional interpretative hikes on this experience are of varying lengths and difficulty. There are no marked trails and the terrain varies from fairly flat to hummocky, with some steep and very steep sections. Good waterproof hiking boots with strong ankle support are required for your comfort and safety.

    Easy, moderate and strenuous hiking options are available. It is recommended that you have the ability to hike over uneven terrain for a half to a full day.

  • As most our costs are incurred long before the actual trip, rental or tour takes place, we are bound to the following cancellation fees:

    • 90 Days before tour start: Full refund
    • 90 – 61 days before tour start: 75% refund
    • 60 – 30 days before tour start: 50% refund
    • 30 or fewer days before tour start: No refund possible

    Exceptions to this cancellation policy cannot be made for any reason, including, terrorism, civil unrest or personal emergencies. If unforeseen circumstances require a change in itinerary, we will make every effort to work out an alternative solution. If for any reason we cannot start the tour, due to circumstances, including but not limited, to severe weather, mechanical breakdown or road closures, you will receive a full refund.
